Arcadia Power Review: Is It Legit & How Much Can You Save?
Arcadia provides a simple way to help increase the demand for renewable energy. For a small monthly fee, you can effectively cancel out your carbon footprint. While the service does offer a few ways to potentially save money on your electric bill, most people will end up paying slightly more to support a good cause.
I have been using Arcadia Power for several years. Yes, I feel good about having my electric power generated by wind turbines, instead of a coal or gas powerplant. I no longer worry if I could do more.
The
arcadia.com web site is easy to use. Once I entered my address and credit card, Arcadia coordinated everything with FPL. The only change is I pay Arcadia automatically, they add a small service fee onto the FPL bill, and our home has emissions-free power. We are emailed a detailed statement each month. The service can be canceled at any time. We are happy to pay an extra $18 a month to be part of the global warming solution. I believe the monthly greenhouse gas emissions from using regular FPL energy probably do $18 worth of damage to the environment, so the $18 extra is fine.
If everyone in the world used renewable energy cirtificates, how much might we save in taxes to pay for mitigation projects that may not always work?.

It should be evident to most people that governments are not solving the global warming crisis. The recent COP 26 conference produced a troubling outcome, where greenhouse gas emissions will continue to rise for the next twenty years or more, and only if all the previously non-conforming nations, actually do fulfil their committments. I fear politics will stiffle any real mitigation of global emissions.
That leaves you and me to solve our shared climate problems. If we are not successful, then what? I believe that using RECs, using the Arcadia service, is the most effective choice I have at present, to substabtially reduce my personal carbon footprint. And yes there are numerous other activities that further reduce one's carbon footprint.
